Varna

The summer capital of Bulgaria

Varna is one of the five largest cities in Bulgaria and the largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast.
Situated strategically in the Gulf of Varna in North east Bulgaria. The city is called the Maritime capital of Bulgaria.
 
The city history can be traced long ago in the past up to 5th millennium BC and having turbulent history since then starting from Tracian times through the time of Alexander the Great, Celts time, Hellenistic period, Byzantine Empire, Ottoman rule, the time of Third Bulgarian State to present days.
 
Varna with the adjacent areas are also popular sea resort.
 
In 2017 Varna was European capital of Youth and in 2019 is the European city of sport.
